FMF bonus track: Grace Williams, Penillion

Another favorite work from the most recent Forgotten Masterpiece Friday composer: her orchestral suite Penillion. The title refers expressly to the Welsh tradition of vocal improvisation. While the suite does not make use of any actual Welsh songs, it incorporates the metrical style, cadential rules, and overall narrative arc of traditional penillion singing.
